Civil Rights

MLKJ became president of SCLC (Southern Christain Leadership) in 1957 to help fight racial segregation. He frequently sent money up north to help with preaching engagements in Northern churches. Martin Luther strongly supported the use of nonviolent to protest against racial discrimination; by using marches, boycotts, and demonstrations. MLKJ was not a 5 men army all by him self. He made alliance with whites in the north and Bayard Rustina black civil rights and peace activist who helped King with his connections. MLKJ visisted India in 1959 to study more about Gandhi's principle of nonviolent persuasion and was looking foward to use it in his social protets.
